Robinhood Chain fees plunge 97% while transaction counts remain near peak levels

Robinhood Chain’s fee income has collapsed even though on-chain activity has not fallen nearly as fast. According to CoinDesk, the network’s memecoin-driven boom has cooled sharply, cutting daily fees by 97% from their peak, while transactions remain close to record highs. The shift is notable because it points to a cheaper network rather than an abandoned one. At its early-September peak, Robinhood Chain generated about $8 million in fees from 13.1 million daily transactions, or roughly $0.64 per transaction. By Sept. 16, that had dropped to about $230,000 across 8.9 million transactions, or just 2.6 cents each, based on growthepie data. Over the latest seven-day period, average fees fell 82% and transaction counts slipped 6%, while roughly $1.5 billion per day continued to move through the chain. Weekly trading figures also complicate the idea of a broad user exodus. CoinDesk calculations using DeFiLlama show Robinhood’s decentralized exchanges handled about $12.8 billion to $13 billion in the seven days through Sept. 16, up 5% from the prior week, while stablecoin supply dipped only 1% to around $1 billion. Even as launchpad Pons cooled, overall DEX activity on the chain stayed firm.

Wilson says Pons hit a $100 million annualized revenue run rate in two months

Wilson, founder of Honeypot Finance and an early investor in RootsFi, said in a post that Pons reached a $100 million annualized revenue run rate within two months, ranking first on a related leaderboard. He also revisited how he met Ozzy on Berachain and decided to back RootsFi early, saying Ozzy’s sincerity, technical ability, and resilience shaped that decision. In Wilson’s description, Pons is built on Robinhood Chain, and its V2 structure lets new tokens begin trading on a bonding curve before moving, once certain conditions are met, into a Uniswap V4 pool with permanently locked liquidity. The quote asset can be native ETH or an ERC-20 token approved by Pons. Wilson said this design creates a meeting point between meme culture and stock tokens, and added that he will continue supporting Ozzy while remaining optimistic about Pons’ next stage of development on Robinhood Chain.

LAPTOP swings dominate a packed crypto news cycle as whale trades, exchange listings and stablecoin updates stack up

Crypto markets saw an unusually dense flow of developments between Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, with LAPTOP drawing the most attention after its launch, airdrop claims, market-maker allocations, liquidity incentives and extreme price moves all unfolded in quick succession. Security concerns emerged at the same time, including phishing warnings tied to LAPTOP and a separate email phishing alert from hardware wallet maker Trezor. Beyond LAPTOP, on-chain activity showed large ZEC buying through three wallets, a profitable six-month run in VVV and LIT by whale address 0x7378, and fresh positioning by trader Based16z. Binance listed Niulai and expanded related services, while Binance Alpha added 4Stock and A Meme Coin. Institutional and infrastructure news also arrived in size. Aave launched an official MCP server for AI agents, Consensys spun out MetaMask into an independent entity, U.S. Bank tested cross-border payments using USBDC on Stellar, PayPal formally rolled out its PYUSDx platform, and Tether teamed up with Fasanara Capital on a $400 million private credit fund. Regulators and policymakers were active as well, with U.S. enforcement action against Xinbi Guarantee, fresh pressure in Washington around the CLARITY Act, and an EU move to extend local contact-point rules to crypto service providers.

Pons founder says token tax cannot be changed after launch, blames terminal routing for abnormal displays

Pons founder and lead developer Ozzy has pushed back on claims that tokens launched on the platform can have their tax rates changed after going live. In a statement on Sept. 9, he said Pons does not support post-launch tax changes and called the market narrative that 「Pons can adjust taxes after launch」 incorrect. According to the team, the issue stems from some trading terminals routing buy and sell orders to higher-tax liquidity pools instead of the pool initialized by Pons. Pons said its initialized Uniswap V4 pool provides liquidity with a 0% tax rate and a 1% Hook fee, and that this fee is clearly disclosed in all trades. The team added that when malicious actors attempt to 「vamp」 the relevant liquidity pool, some terminals may show higher trading taxes. Because router configurations differ across terminals, and because different terminals may end up selecting different pools, users may see fluctuating tax figures. Ozzy said Pons has asked the affected terminals to correct the issue, arguing that bad routing and inaccurate displays can raise users’ trading costs and trigger unnecessary panic. Pons also said that if users see taxes above 1%, that likely means the trade was routed to the wrong pool, unless the token deployer had set a higher tax at launch.

Pons founder Ozzy says post-launch tax change claims are false, blames routing errors

Pons founder and lead developer Ozzy said on Sept. 9 that claims the project can change token tax rates after launch are incorrect. According to his statement, the initial Uniswap V4 pool for Pons was set with a 0% tax rate and a 1% Hook fee, and that structure was clearly disclosed in all trades. Ozzy said the unusually high tax figures seen by some users came from routing problems on certain front ends rather than any post-launch change by Pons itself. He added that some terminals mistakenly routed buy and sell orders to high-tax liquidity pools, including so-called vampire pools created by malicious actors. Ozzy said he has asked the relevant terminals to fix the routing issue. He also stated that if users see a tax rate above 1%, it is most likely because the trade was routed to the wrong pool, unless the deployer had set a higher tax rate at launch.

Robinhood Meme Coin OZZY Surges 310x, Market Cap Breaks $10 Million

The meme coin OZZY on Robinhood Chain briefly surged to a market cap of over $10 million, now at $12 million, with a 24-hour gain of over 310x, according to GMGN data. The move came after Pons founder Ozzy responded to a meme from September 2025, which listed Pump.fun founder Alon and Hyperliquid founder Jeff Yan in a "Hall of Fame" with a third slot left empty. On-chain data shows concentrated holdings among top addresses, warning of high volatility and risk.

Unauthorized Dolly Parton memecoins flood Solana markets after death announcement

Unauthorized memecoins using Dolly Parton’s name and image began trading on Solana within minutes after news of the country music star’s death was announced, according to Protos. The report says Parton’s nephew announced her passing on Tuesday afternoon, and a wave of tokens including RIP Dolly Parton, DollyParton, Dollar Parton, and Dolly quickly appeared across at least a dozen trading pairs. Protos said neither Parton, her family, Dollywood, nor her estate had discussed any crypto project tied to her name. The tokens were created by third parties, had no stated utility, and no connection to Parton or her charitable work. While combined trading volume reached millions of dollars, most of the assets had fallen to market capitalizations of only a few thousand dollars by yesterday evening. The article places the episode in a broader pattern of memecoin speculation tied to celebrity deaths. It also points to Pump Fun, the Solana-based launchpad where most memecoins are created, noting that tokens can be launched in minutes for less than $100. Protos cited prior data showing that more than 99.99% of the 1.7 million memecoins launched on PumpFun never sustained a $1 million market cap, while a CoinGecko review of more than 18.6 million token launches found that over two-thirds of PumpFun tokens stopped trading on the same day they launched.

Pump.fun Reclaims More Than Half of Weekly Launchpad Fees After Robinhood Chain Rivals Cut Its July Share

Pump.fun lost a large slice of the token-launch market in early July as a wave of launchpads on Robinhood Chain, led by NOXA and later Pons, pulled its weekly share down to 26.7%. Four weeks later, that share had climbed back above 50%, with pump.fun posting a 90-day high of $9.21 million in weekly fees for the week ended Aug. 11. The broader launchpad market expanded even faster than pump.fun lost ground, with total fees across 125 launchpads rising 77% to $75.39 million in the 30 days through Aug. 11, according to The Defiant’s calculations using DefiLlama data. Much of that growth came from Robinhood Chain, whose launchpad fees nearly matched Solana over the same 30-day window before cooling on a weekly basis. Pons became the largest new challenger, generating $19.80 million in 30-day fees across two versions, while Uniswap Labs entered the chain with pools.trade and a zero launchpad-fee model. Even so, the surge in launchpad activity has not translated into a broad recovery in memecoin prices: CoinGecko data cited by The Defiant shows the sector remains 83% below its December 2024 peak.
