Hyundai completes USDT cross-border settlement pilot on Avalanche in 7 minutes

Hyundai Motor Group has completed a proof-of-concept for corporate cross-border settlement using Tether’s USDT on the Avalanche blockchain, according to a Tether announcement dated July 13, 2026, Taiwan time. The pilot connected Hyundai’s U.S. subsidiary HMA and its Mexico unit HMM in a live operating environment rather than a simulated test. In the first phase, Hyundai’s U.S. subsidiary converted $20,000 into USDT, transferred the funds over Avalanche, and had the Mexican side convert the stablecoins back into U.S. dollars. Tether said the full transfer and verification process took an average of 7 minutes, compared with traditional bank-based cross-border remittances that typically take 3 to 4 hours or even several days. The company said the pilot ran through regulated settlement infrastructure provider Axiym. Hyundai Card led the design of the broader framework, including regulatory review, compliance, accounting, tax and operating considerations. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the project shows rising corporate demand for faster, more efficient and more transparent cross-border value transfer. The announcement also said Hyundai plans to explore additional settlement corridors and direct local-currency settlement, while the source article cited market reports saying a second-phase European POC could involve Circle’s USDC and Visa later this month.
