Weekly crypto project roundup: Dogecoin Labs launches, OpenSea app opens to the public, Starknet backs independent network study

A busy week across crypto projects brought a mix of product launches, governance votes, security incidents and tokenomics changes. Dogecoin Labs was formally launched with support from the Dogecoin Foundation, bringing together the MyDoge wallet, the DogeOS app platform and the Such App payments product under a new independent entity led by DogeOS founder Jordan Jefferson. OpenSea also opened its app to the public, with CEO Devin Finzer saying the product combines social trading feeds, wallet onboarding and cross-wallet asset tracking with token, meme coin and NFT trading. Elsewhere, Starknet token holders used more than 93.5% of voting power to support a research proposal on whether the network should evolve from an Ethereum Layer 2 into an independent quantum-resistant Layer 1. Zcash developers aligned on a planned NU7 activation around Nov. 5, while Aave founder Stani said Aavenomics 3.0 will include AAVE buybacks, staking and burns. Uniswap Labs rolled out Aggregator Hooks on Ethereum, Base and Robinhood Chain. The week also included a major security disclosure from Qubic, which said 1,404 wallets were compromised after attackers exploited weak seed randomness, and a lawsuit filed by a Circle shareholder against U.S. President Donald Trump and World Liberty Financial over transactions tied to the UAE.

Qubic Restores Network Operations After Attack, Claims Window Open Until May 1, 2027

Qubic said its Layer 1 network has resumed normal operations after an attack, with the Computor Arbitration Committee approving a recovery plan and the official claims portal now live. The project said an initial batch of funds has already been returned to verified owners, while affected assets were moved into protected escrow accounts during the network pause to reduce further risk exposure. Qubic also warned that any wallet created with versions earlier than Qubic web wallet 4.26.4, released on Oct. 19, should be treated as unsafe even if the funds were not affected. Users are being told to upgrade to version 4.26.4 or later and create a new wallet. The claims window for affected users will remain open until May 1, 2027, with submissions backed by clear evidence set to receive priority handling. Qubic had previously said the attacker exploited insufficient randomness in seed generation for some wallets between Oct. 17 at 23:42 UTC and Oct. 18 at 01:26 UTC, compromising 1,404 wallets and stealing about 2.94 trillion QU.

Qubic restarts network and opens claims after $1.4 million QU token hack

Layer-1 blockchain Qubic has restarted its network and begun a recovery process after a wallet seed vulnerability led to the theft of roughly $1.4 million in QU tokens from 1,404 accounts. According to the project’s latest update, validators known as Computors approved a recovery plan, and affected users can now check their addresses and file claims through Qubic’s reclaim platform. The deadline to submit claims is May 1, 2027. Qubic’s blockchain explorer shows the network resumed processing ticks at 8:00 pm on Oct. 19 and moved past tick 85,371,949, where the chain had been halted on Sunday. The project said the attack stemmed from predictable wallet seeds generated by vulnerable wallet software, affecting seeds created through Qubic’s web wallet on certain Apple devices and browsers. Qubic said it fixed the flaw in web wallet version 4.26.4 and urged anyone who created a wallet before that release to treat it as insecure, create a new wallet and move funds out immediately.

Qubic restarts blockchain and opens claims after 1,404 wallets lost about $1.4 million in QU

Layer-1 blockchain Qubic has restarted its network and begun a fund recovery process after an exploit tied to a wallet seed vulnerability. The incident led to the theft of roughly $1.4 million worth of QU tokens from 1,404 accounts. Qubic said its network validators, known as Computors, approved a recovery plan, and affected users can now file claims. The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2027. Blockchain data from the Qubic explorer shows the network resumed processing ticks at 20:00 on Oct. 19, moving past the previously halted height of 85,371,949. The vulnerability affected wallet seeds generated on some Apple devices and in browsers. Qubic advised users to create a new wallet with version 4.26.4 or later and move funds as soon as possible. The update was reported by Cointelegraph and carried by Odaily.

Qubic halts blockchain after $1.3 million theft drains 1,404 wallets in 104 minutes

Qubic said attackers exploited a flaw in how some older wallets generated seeds, draining 1,404 wallets in a 104-minute window and stealing about 2.94 trillion QU tokens worth roughly $1.3 million. The incident began at 23:42 UTC on Oct. 17 and ended at 01:26 UTC on Oct. 18, according to the team’s investigation released on Oct. 18. Qubic’s network operators then halted the chain at tick 85,371,949 to stop further movement of funds. The project said about 87.1% of the stolen tokens remained on-chain and could not be moved because the network was paused, while the other 12.9% had reached MEXC, where related accounts were frozen. Bitget also suspended QUBIC deposits and withdrawals. Qubic said the issue affected a specific legacy seed-generation flow and pointed to older wallets created through iPhone, iPad, Mac Safari, and an early iOS app. It added that the problem does not mean Apple devices, Safari, or all wallets created in those environments share the same weakness. Qubic has released wallet version 4.26.4 with a cryptographically secure random number generator, but said old private keys do not become safe just because the software has been updated. Users considered at risk still need to create a new wallet in a secure environment and move funds after the network resumes transfers.

WuBlockchain daily roundup: Qubic freezes most stolen QU, while Korea tokenization plans move ahead

WuBlockchain’s daily selection of crypto and regulatory developments covered six separate stories on Oct. 19. The most urgent involved Layer 1 network Qubic, which said attackers exploited insufficient randomness in some wallet seeds between 23:42 UTC on Oct. 17 and 01:26 UTC on Oct. 18, compromising 1,404 wallets and stealing about 2.94 trillion QU. Qubic said the flaw was tied to seed generation rather than the protocol itself, halted network transactions at block height 85,371,949, and said 87.1% of the stolen funds remained on-network and had been frozen. The remaining 12.9% was sent to MEXC, where related accounts were also frozen, while other exchanges suspended QUBIC deposits and withdrawals. The roundup also said Super League shareholders approved a deal with Metaplanet that would inject 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million in cash, with the renamed Superplanet set to serve as Metaplanet’s U.S.-listed bitcoin treasury platform. Separately, Strive CEO Matt Cole said the company bought 1,223 BTC last week at an average price of $81,734, while Strategy disclosed another 267 BTC purchase, bringing its holdings to 848,517 BTC. In South Korea, Mirae Asset Securities is targeting the first quarter of 2027 for tokenized products. In Shenzhen, economic crime investigators warned investors about high-yield scams marketed under RWA real estate tokenization.

Qubic freezes mainnet after weak-seed flaw leads to $1.4 million theft

Qubic has frozen its mainnet after disclosing a wallet seed-generation flaw that attackers used to drain funds from more than 1,400 accounts. The project said roughly $1.4 million, or 294 trillion Qubic units, was stolen, with the chain halted at tick 85,371,949. According to Qubic, the issue stemmed from JavaScript’s Math.random(), which produced ordinary random numbers rather than a cryptographically secure source during seed creation. The affected environments included wallets generated in iPhone and iPad browsers, Safari on Mac through Oct. 18, and the Qubic iOS app before July 2025. Qubic said it has patched the issue in version 4.26.4 by switching to crypto.getRandomValues(). The team added that 87.1% of the stolen funds remain frozen on-chain, while the other 12.9% was sent to MEXC and frozen within about an hour. Qubic’s core team is now identifying affected wallets and preparing a recovery plan, while the network’s Computors will vote on how frozen funds should be allocated. A full technical report will be released after a full recovery plan is finalized, though no restart timeline has been announced.

Qubic says weak seed randomness led to theft of about 2.94 trillion QU from 1,404 wallets

Qubic said an attacker exploited insufficient randomness in the seed generation process for some wallets between 23:42 UTC yesterday and 01:26 UTC today, gaining access to 1,404 Qubic wallets and moving about 2.94 trillion QU. The project said the issue was tied to seed generation rather than the Qubic protocol itself. According to the announcement, affected seeds include those created before Oct. 18, 2026 in any browser on iPhone or iPad, those created before the same date in Safari on Mac, and those created before July 2025 through the Qubic iOS app. Qubic said the network was paused at tick 85,371,949. It added that 87.1% of the stolen funds remain on the Qubic network and have been frozen, while the other 12.9% was transferred to MEXC, where the receiving accounts have also been frozen. The project said the seed generation issue has been fixed in version 4.26.4, and that next steps will be decided by the Computor quorum under network rules. A full technical report will be released after a fund recovery plan is finalized.
