Binance will make additional network and compliance-related changes later in the week, including restrictions involving EXMO and other platforms.

The week of Aug. 17-23 is packed with events that could draw close attention from crypto traders, policymakers, and market infrastructure operators. On Aug. 19, President Donald Trump is expected to attend a White House gathering of crypto and prediction-market executives, with CEOs from Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket, and Kalshi also set to join, according to CoinDesk. The event is expected to warm up the first formal meeting of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s newly formed Innovation Advisory Committee. A day later, the Federal Reserve will release minutes from its July policy meeting, where the Federal Open Market Committee voted 9-3 to keep the federal funds rate at 3.5% to 3.75%. Markets will be looking for clues on how many officials saw a case for a rate hike and what evidence could shift the broader committee. Binance said it will stop supporting deposits and withdrawals for Sophon (SOPH) through BNB Smart Chain starting at 08:00 UTC on Aug. 21. The change applies to that specific network route for the token. Users will still be able to deposit or withdraw SOPH through other networks that remain supported on Binance. The notice was reported by BlockBeats on Aug. 14.

Binance said it will stop supporting deposits and withdrawals for Sophon (SOPH) over the BNB Smart Chain network at 16:00 UTC+8 on Aug. 21, 2026, according to an official announcement cited by Odaily. After that time, any SOPH deposits sent through that network will not be credited to user accounts and could result in asset loss. Binance added that users will still be able to deposit and withdraw SOPH through other networks supported on the platform. The notice only applies to the BNB Smart Chain route mentioned in the announcement.

Binance revealed through an official announcement on August 11 that it will apply a monitoring tag to five tokens, effective August 11, 2026: Moonbeam (GLMR), ICON (ICX), Moonriver (MOVR), SuperRare (RARE) and Sophon (SOPH). The exchange said tokens carrying the monitoring tag are considered to have higher volatility and greater risk compared with other assets already listed on its platform. Binance will closely track these projects and carry out periodic reviews to determine if they still satisfy the exchange's listing criteria. Should a project fall short, the affected token could face delisting in the future. When conducting assessments, Binance will look at factors including the project team's level of commitment, the quality of development activity, trading volume and liquidity, network and smart contract security, community communication, changes in token supply, and any indications of misconduct. The company also stressed that this adjustment will not affect other services associated with these tokens. The move marks the latest step in Binance's ongoing review of assets with elevated risk profiles and puts the five tokens under closer surveillance.

The coming week carries a dense schedule for crypto markets and adjacent sectors. Circle, SpaceX, Hut 8, and American Bitcoin are all set to release quarterly results, while token unlocks for Succinct (PROVE), Ethena (ENA), and Hyperliquid (HYPE) are also on the calendar. Binance said it will stop supporting deposits and withdrawals on the Sophon (SOPH) mainnet and will make transfers available through the Ethereum ERC-20 network instead. According to the exchange’s announcement, Sophon mainnet deposit and withdrawal services will be suspended starting at 08:00 UTC on Aug. 4, 2026. After the migration is completed, the Sophon mainnet will no longer be used for deposits or withdrawals on Binance. The exchange said the token migration will be carried out at a 1:1 ratio from the Sophon mainnet to Ethereum (ERC-20). Binance will handle the technical work required for the transition, so users will not need to take manual action. It also said users should pay attention to later updates regarding network choices for deposits and withdrawals. Binance added that the change will not affect spot trading, margin trading, futures trading, or Binance Earn services related to SOPH.

Sophon will wind down its zkSync-based Layer 2 and migrate to Base, with Pyre as the first app. SOPH utility will shift from gas and staking to a revenue-funded buyback and burn model.
