Saizeriya to raise menu prices 6% on average in Japan from Oct. 29; Taiwan stores have not announced changes

Saizeriya, the Japanese budget Italian restaurant chain, said it will raise menu prices in Japan by an average of 6% starting Oct. 29, with its signature Milan-style doria increasing from 300 yen to 320 yen. In its Oct. 14 notice, the company said it could no longer absorb higher food and energy costs because of its own "insufficient effort," and apologized to customers. The company also disclosed that some items previously priced at 400 yen will move to 420-430 yen, while 24 stores near leisure facilities and in urban areas will see average increases of 10%. Prices for fresh wine and breakfast and lunch-only menus will remain unchanged. On the same day, Saizeriya released results for the fiscal year ending August 2026, showing consolidated revenue of 301.483 billion yen, up 17.4%, and operating profit of 16.419 billion yen, up 5.9%. Its Japan business posted an operating margin of just 3.0%. Taiwan’s official website had not posted any price adjustment notice as of Oct. 14, and listed the Milan-style meat sauce doria at NT$120.
