PA Daily: OpenAI unveils GPT-6 Astra as Nvidia moves to buy Hugging Face

PA Daily’s latest roundup spans crypto markets, regulation, AI, funding, and whale activity. OpenAI formally introduced GPT-6 Astra and said the model may sit close to the point where artificial general intelligence becomes recognizable in hindsight. Nvidia, meanwhile, agreed to acquire AI platform Hugging Face for about $13 billion, a deal that would put its three French co-founders into the billionaire ranks while preserving Hugging Face’s open-platform model, according to the report. In crypto, spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $731 million in net inflows on Sept. 3 U.S. time, led by BlackRock’s IBIT at $454 million. Spot Ether ETFs added another $141 million. Polymarket launched perpetual contracts across crypto, equities, and commodities, while Ethena said its fee switch proposal passed unanimously, clearing the way for programmatic ENA buybacks. The report also tracks a sharp response from AMC CEO Adam Aron, who said Robinhood’s tokenized stock plan involving AMC and more than 190 companies was unauthorized and unregistered under U.S. securities law. Elsewhere, a Guangzhou court ruled that a virtual-currency lending contract was invalid and said losses should be calculated using acquisition cost. Binance Alpha listings, funding for Diameter Pay, Oura’s U.S. IPO filing, and a series of high-return meme-token trades also featured in the day’s developments.

Towns hands protocol operations to Swiss-based foundation

Towns co-founders Ben and Pat said the protocol they built with Brian over five years has completed an operational handoff to the Switzerland-based Towns Foundation. The protocol will continue to run as a decentralized communications network, supporting onchain community ownership, end-to-end encrypted messages, programmable identity and native value transfer. Towns said it has more than 1.6 million users, over 400,000 communities and over $40 million in user earnings through the protocol in 2025. The team also said the project has listed on several major exchanges. The new leadership team will keep stewarding the protocol and will appear through official channels in stages. Ben and Pat said they will move on to new ventures while continuing to support the transition on a part-time basis, and thanked the team, investors, node operators, exchange partners, developers, $TOWNS holders and community members. They also said they look forward to the foundation advancing Towns at the intersection of decentralized communications and AI.

Sonar’s Coinbase track record puts TownSquare in focus as its token sale gains traction

Echo’s public token sale platform Sonar is drawing fresh attention after the source article said 95% of projects that completed a Sonar Sale eventually listed on Coinbase. The piece points to several 2026 examples, including Fluent, Pharos, Arcium and Nexus, and argues that these deals shared similar traits: strong backing, a compliance-heavy profile and large post-launch returns. The latest project under that lens is TownSquare (TOWN). According to the source material, TownSquare is the first Sonar Sale project on Monad, had its token sale post reposted by Monad’s official social account, and plans to go live on Base and Aerodrome on the first day of its token generation event. The article also says the sale passed 50% of its fundraising target within 48 hours and that a related Polymarket market showed an 85% probability for the sale to be oversubscribed by more than $1 million. The original article frames those signals as reasons TOWN is being compared with earlier Sonar projects that later reached Coinbase, while also noting that Coinbase has never promised a Sonar project will be listed and that past patterns do not guarantee future results.

TownSquare opens public sale for TOWN token, targeting about $1 million

TownSquare, a cross-chain institutional yield infrastructure project, has announced a public sale for its TOWN token with a fundraising target of about $1 million. The sale will allocate roughly 0.66% of TOWN’s total supply and offers two pricing options: $0.015 per token with a six-month lockup, or $0.020 per token with immediate unlock at the token generation event. Individual commitments range from $100 to $100,000, and participants must complete KYC or KYB verification. If demand exceeds the allocation, tokens will be distributed on a pro-rata basis. The token will be issued on both Monad and Base. Registration opened on July 14, the commitment window will run from July 20 to July 26, and settlement starts on July 27. The sale will take place on Monad through on-chain token sale platform Sonar, with support from Echo. TownSquare previously raised a total of $16.25 million from investors including the World Liberty Financial ecosystem fund, OKX Ventures, Amber Group, Auros, and Animoca Ventures.

TownSquare opens Sonar public sale registration for Monad-based ICO starting July 20

TownSquare, an infrastructure project focused on institutional yield and cross-chain borrowing brokerage, has opened registration for its ICO. According to the project, the sale is the first Sonar ICO built on the Monad chain and is technically supported by Echo Sonar, a platform within the Coinbase ecosystem. The offering includes two valuation tracks: a $150 million valuation tied to a six-month lock-up and a $200 million valuation for a fully unlocked allocation at TGE. The raise is capped at $1 million and will release about 0.666% of the total TOWN token supply. The sale supports USDC and USDT0 on Monad. TownSquare said it previously completed three funding rounds totaling $16.25 million. Participants included World Liberty Financial, Auros Ventures, Amber Group, Animoca Ventures, OKX Ventures, and angel investors and institutions from the Monad and a16z ecosystems. The project also said it has integrated yield routes across Monad, Base, and BNBChain, while TOWN is designed to support a new cross-chain token operating model to incentivize yield strategies across different networks. Formal public sale access is scheduled to begin at 9 PM Hong Kong time on July 20.
