Zano plans roughly 24-hour chain rollback after inflation bug tied to Gateway Addresses

Privacy blockchain network Zano said an inflation vulnerability involving Gateway Addresses has pushed it to plan a rollback of roughly 24 hours of blockchain history. The project also asked users to immediately stop all economic activity related to ZANO and Confidential Assets. Zano said it will compensate users for losses caused by the rollback, but it has not yet disclosed the target block height for the rollback, the patched software version, the compensation process, how the vulnerability worked, or the amount of assets created without authorization. The network added Gateway Addresses on Aug. 26 as part of Hard Fork 6. The disclosure was reported by ChainCatcher in a 7x24 news update.

Zano weighs rolling back about 24 hours of chain history after inflation bug disclosure

Privacy blockchain network Zano said it is considering a rollback of roughly 24 hours of blockchain history after disclosing an inflation bug involving Gateway Addresses. The team also asked users to immediately stop any economic activity related to ZANO and Confidential Assets while it addresses the issue. Zano said it will compensate users for losses caused by the rollback, but several key details remain undisclosed. Those include the target block height for the rollback, the patched software version, the compensation process, the mechanism behind the vulnerability, and the number of assets created without authorization. Gateway Addresses went live on Aug. 26 as part of Hard Fork 6. The development was reported by Bitcoin.com News and carried by Odaily.

Zano activates sixth hard fork, enabling non-custodial native ZANO transfers to Ethereum, Solana and TON

Privacy blockchain Zano activated its sixth hard fork, HF6, on Aug. 31 at block height 3,833,000, with the upgrade now live on mainnet. The release marks the largest upgrade in the network’s seven-year history. HF6 adds Gateway Addresses, a feature designed to give centralized exchanges, decentralized exchanges and cross-chain bridges a directly traceable single balance with instant synchronization, while keeping existing addresses and their privacy model intact. Following the upgrade, native ZANO can now move in a non-custodial way to Ethereum, Solana and TON. Zano said assets are public on those external networks and regain privacy protection once bridged back to Zano. The upgrade also tightens consensus validation rules and strengthens wallet encryption, mining pool fault tolerance, payment IDs, anti-DoS limits, SOCKS5 proxy support and RPC interfaces. According to Bitcoin.com News, HF6 is also a prerequisite for the Zano Execution Layer, an EVM-compatible chain under development that does not yet have a fixed launch date. Zano’s next-generation consensus protocol, Zenith, is listed on its 2027 roadmap.

Zano activates HF6 at block 3,833,000, enabling native cross-chain transfers to Ethereum, Solana and TON

Privacy-focused blockchain Zano has activated its sixth hard fork, HF6, at block height 3,833,000, with the upgrade now live on mainnet. The network described it as the largest upgrade in its seven-year history. HF6 introduces Gateway Addresses, a feature designed for centralized exchanges, DEXs and cross-chain bridges that offers a directly traceable single balance and instant synchronization while keeping existing addresses and their privacy model unchanged. The upgrade also allows native ZANO to move in a non-custodial manner to Ethereum, Solana and TON. Once on those external networks, the asset is public; when bridged back to Zano, its privacy protections return. Beyond cross-chain changes, HF6 tightens consensus validation rules and strengthens wallet encryption, mining pool fault tolerance, payment IDs, anti-DoS limits, SOCKS5 proxy support and RPC interfaces. HF6 is also described as a prerequisite for the Zano Execution Layer, an EVM-compatible chain still under development with no fixed launch date. Zano’s next-generation consensus protocol, Zenith, has been placed on the project’s 2027 roadmap.

Zano targets 2027 shift to pure PoS through Zenith, with block times cut to 15 seconds

Privacy-focused blockchain Zano said Zenith has moved into the implementation stage and is planned for a network transition in 2027, subject to the results of testing, analysis, and review. The project has not set an activation date, and the proposed operating parameters still require validation at the network level. Under the proposal, Zano would move from its current hybrid proof-of-work and proof-of-stake design to a privacy-preserving pure proof-of-stake protocol. Block times are expected to drop from about one minute to about 15 seconds. The recommended confirmation count would fall from 10 blocks to 4 to 6 blocks, with typical confirmation times of around 60 to 90 seconds. Zano co-founder and core developer Andrey Sabelnikov said Zenith is built on more than 12 years of privacy research and is intended to give the network the benefits of modern PoS while keeping the privacy protections users expect from Zano. The project also said current PoW miners receive about 720 newly issued ZANO per day, equal to roughly 21,600 per month and 262,800 per year. That issuance will be removed once Zenith goes live and PoW mining ends. Zano has also launched an official Zano Forum for technical discussion and community support.

Zano says Zenith has entered implementation, targets network transition in 2027

Privacy blockchain Zano said Zenith has moved into the implementation phase, with a network transition currently planned for 2027, subject to the outcome of testing, analysis, and review. The project has not set an activation date, and the proposed operating parameters still need validation at the network level. Under the proposal, Zano would move from a hybrid proof-of-work and proof-of-stake model to a privacy-preserving pure proof-of-stake protocol. The block time would be reduced from about one minute to roughly 15 seconds, while the recommended confirmation count would fall from 10 blocks to 4 to 6 blocks, putting typical confirmation time at around 60 to 90 seconds. Co-founder and core developer Andrey Sabelnikov said Zenith builds on more than 12 years of privacy research and is designed to give the network the benefits of modern PoS while keeping the privacy protections Zano users expect. Zano also said current PoW miners receive about 720 newly issued ZANO per day, or about 21,600 per month and 262,800 per year. That issuance would end once Zenith is activated and PoW mining stops. The team also launched the official Zano Forum for technical discussion and community support.
