CXMT sues U.S. Defense Department to be removed from blacklist

Chinese chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CXMT, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense seeking removal from a blacklist, according to the news digest citing Bloomberg. The company said the chips it designs are intended for civilian and commercial use rather than military applications, and argued that it was wrongly added to the list. The case has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth named as a defendant. In a statement issued after the filing, CXMT said it is not a military contractor and that its reputation and commercial interests have continued to suffer since it was first placed on the blacklist in January 2025. The company said the legal action was taken to protect its business interests. Reuters separately cited a Pentagon statement saying the department does not comment on pending or unresolved litigation under its policy.

BitOK says Tether freezes blacklisted USDT faster, but attackers still move funds before execution

BitOK says Tether has improved the speed at which it freezes blacklisted USDT addresses, yet the gap between submission and on-chain execution still leaves room for large transfers. The blockchain analytics firm said the median time from submission to execution on Ethereum fell from 3 hours and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 46 minutes, while Tron dropped from 1 hour and 57 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Even with that improvement, BitOK recorded 107 "clean interception" cases over the past 12 months, where criminals moved funds out of target addresses before the freeze was fully executed. The report said $127.6 million was transferred during that window, 6.1 times the amount seen a year earlier. BitOK also said the first approval in a multisig wallet still exposes the target address on-chain, creating an opportunity for funds to be moved. The research added that Tether has helped law enforcement freeze more than $300 million across 23 jurisdictions. Still, large sums can leave addresses within minutes after the process starts. In one June 2025 case cited in the report, $37.3 million in USDT was moved two minutes before final approval.

Brian Armstrong says PR industry should build a collaborative blacklist tool

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said in a post on X that most public relations professionals he knows keep blacklists, and argued that the industry should build a collaborative tool to share that information. He did not provide details on what such a product would look like, but suggested that a shared mechanism of this kind could improve efficiency across the sector. It remains unclear whether Armstrong plans to back or develop such a product himself. The comment was reported by Techub News and centered on the idea of giving PR practitioners a way to coordinate blacklist information rather than maintaining separate internal lists.
