CoinEx to Shut Down on Dec. 22, 2026, Founder Haipo Yang Says

CoinEx founder Haipo Yang said the exchange, which officially launched on Dec. 22, 2017, will formally shut down on Dec. 22, 2026. In his explanation, Yang said nine years is a long time in the crypto industry and that CoinEx had gone through multiple bull and bear cycles with its users, witnessed the rise and fall of many projects, and seen many peers leave the market in different ways. He said he had come to accept that CoinEx did not become a leading exchange in the industry, while the security and compliance risks involved in operating a crypto exchange have become increasingly difficult to control. Yang added that revenue can fall, but responsibility does not, and taking on unlimited risk under limited income is no longer a rational choice. He also said CoinEx would repurchase CET at its initial listing price of 0.005 USDT per token with no cap, ensure users can fully withdraw their assets, provide employees with a proper farewell, and offer CET holders a clear and responsible plan.

Nansen says BitMart moved ETH and stablecoin reserves before shutdown notice

BitMart said over the weekend that it is shutting down, according to a Techub News report citing on-chain monitoring from Nansen. The data showed that before the closure announcement was made public, the exchange’s Ethereum and stablecoin reserves had already been moved off the platform. What remains in reserve is now mainly made up of tokens with weaker liquidity. BitMart, founded in 2018, previously offered services including spot and futures trading. The on-chain activity highlighted by Nansen suggests that the platform’s main liquid assets were transferred out before the exchange formally announced it was closing.

BitMEX to shut trading platform on Sept. 23, 2026 after halting new user sign-ups

BitMEX said it will formally shut down its trading platform at 04:00 UTC on Sept. 23, 2026, and has already stopped all new user registrations. The exchange said the decision followed a strategic review of both its own business and the broader crypto industry, with the board of parent company HDR Global Trading Limited approving an orderly wind-down. Trading will continue until the closure date, but starting at 04:00 UTC on Aug. 26, 2026, users will no longer be able to open new positions and may only reduce existing ones. BitMEX said it will then gradually force-close open positions, and any position still open at the shutdown time will be liquidated immediately. After trading ends, the platform will keep custody services only, allowing users to view wallet balances, check trading history and withdraw assets. The exchange also said all BMEX staking has been unstaked and the tokens have been returned to user accounts. For KYC-verified users who fail to withdraw before the deadline, BitMEX plans to charge an account management fee of $50 per month or 1% annualized on account balances, whichever is higher.
