Payy2026-09-11 02:28:54Payy rolls out Finality, a stablecoin refund mechanismPayy, a privacy-focused EVM Layer 2 network on Ethereum, has introduced Finality, a stablecoin refund mechanism aimed at business customers. The system is designed to offer a dispute-resolution process similar to chargebacks without reversing the original blockchain transaction. Under the setup, the payer can define a brief recovery window when creating a payment, while the recipient still receives funds immediately. During that protection window, liquidity providers take on the payment protection layer. If a dispute arises, the payer can submit a reason and supporting evidence for review by a neutral arbitrator. If the claim is approved, the protected amount can be recovered. The launch positions Finality as a mechanism for handling payment disputes in stablecoin transactions while preserving the finality of the original on-chain transfer.770
Solana2026-08-14 06:52:38Solana Moves to Cut Transaction Finality to 150 MillisecondsSolana is moving forward with the Alpenglow consensus upgrade, which aims to reduce transaction finality time from roughly 12.8 seconds to around 150 milliseconds. The upgrade is expected to activate through Agave 4.3 in October. Co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko says the change is most significant for large-value payments, while ordinary users might not feel much difference. Finality, he explains, is stronger than typical transaction confirmation because it guarantees state changes cannot be undone.300
Solana2026-08-12 14:13:07Routing Error Pushed Solana Within 4.51 Points of Losing FinalitySolana came close to losing transaction finality on Wednesday morning after a routing mistake at hosting provider Teraswitch sent 28.83% of staked SOL offline. That left the network just 4.51 percentage points away from the 33.34% threshold at which finality stops, or about 86% of the way to a halt. Teraswitch said the issue began when a default route from its Miami site was propagated without its metric and communities, then reflected from Amsterdam into Europe and Asia-Pacific. Edge routers in those regions treated the route as locally originated, preferred it over the valid path, and passed it upstream, where it was rejected. Twelve sites across London, Amsterdam, Dublin, Frankfurt, Singapore and Tokyo were affected, while North America was not. Engineers identified the problem within 10 minutes, and service was restored at 04:16:15 UTC. Post-incident analysis from Marinade Finance found the outage was heavily concentrated in autonomous system AS20326, which carries 118,890,767 SOL and sits above the Solana Foundation delegation program’s 25% cap at 27.34%. Marinade also said 90 affected validators lost 333 SOL in rewards, and warned that stake concentration measured only by hosting provider can miss correlated failures.420
Ethereum2026-07-23 01:20:14Ethereum’s 10-Year Uptime Relies on Splitting Block Production From FinalityResearcher Luca Zanolini said Ethereum stays live during faults by separating block production from final settlement, then uses slashing, inactivity leaks, and client diversity to recover finality without halting the chain.1840
Polygon2026-07-22 19:50:14Polygon to Launch Giugliano Hard Fork on April 8 With Faster Finality and Fee Data in Block HeadersPolygon says the Giugliano hard fork will go live on April 8, aiming to cut finality times and move fee parameters into block headers as part of its Gigagas scaling roadmap.320
Ethereum2026-07-22 14:15:13Ethereum Roadmap Targets 2-Second Slots and 6 to 16-Second FinalityEthereum researchers outlined a roadmap through 2029 that could cut slot times from 12 seconds to as low as 2 seconds and reduce finality from about 16 minutes to 6–16 seconds.510
