Trader xm39 expands long-oil, short-Nasdaq bet to $48.21 million
Monitoring data from TradingBeats shows that trader xm39 has continued to scale up a paired trade tied to the U.S.-Iran conflict narrative: long WTI crude and short the Nasdaq on Hyperliquid. Since a major portfolio adjustment on Aug. 17, the combined size of the two positions has risen from about $17.606 million to $48.209 million, an increase of roughly $30.6 million, or 173.8%. Within that basket, the WTI long grew from $7.299 million to $12.833 million. TradingBeats said xm39 bought about $5.069 million during the period and added another $1.561 million at an average price of $85.38 even after WTI fell 1.5% on the day. The blended entry price now stands at $81.80, leaving the position up about $535,000. The Nasdaq short increased from about $10.307 million to $35.376 million, with net exposure up roughly $25.529 million. That leg is currently showing about $195,000 in unrealized profit, while repeated position adjustments during the period generated another roughly $250,000 in realized gains. The two positions together are now up about $730,000 on paper, and close to $980,000 including realized profit. xm39 has also placed about $10.6 million in take-profit orders between $89.39 and $90.42. Separately, the trader's Polymarket bet on a U.S. invasion of Iran before 2027 remains underwater despite continued accumulation.
