DeepSeek Harness desktop client surfaces online and appears to be working
Download links for a desktop version of DeepSeek Harness have started circulating on social media, even though DeepSeek has not issued a formal announcement. A hands-on check found that the app can be downloaded, installed, and used. After launch, users can sign in with a DeepSeek account or add an API key, choose a local folder as a workspace, and assign tasks to an agent through a graphical interface.
The desktop client presents several usage categories, such as office and research or code development, and then asks users to choose a preferred workflow. It currently offers four operating modes: Standard, PTC, Minimal, and Creative. The app also shows six built-in official plugins, including Agent Team, Voice Input, Terminal, Agent Loop, Subagent, and Web Search. Two of them, Agent Team and Voice Input, are marked experimental.
Community discussion has focused on whether this should be treated as an official release. In a GitHub thread, a user named overFloweee said a build already exists but has not been formally announced. According to that post, the app package was signed with an Apple developer certificate tied to DeepSeek’s corporate entity and passed Apple notarization, with the signing entity listed as Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd. The same user added that the build is coming through a nightly channel, which suggests it is closer to a candidate build in DeepSeek’s production distribution system than a formally released stable version.
