Robinhood Chain Expands Beyond Tokenized Stocks as Analysts Focus on RWA DeFi
PANews, citing a 168X interview with independent on-chain researcher Alu, outlined a broadening thesis around Robinhood Chain only months after mainnet launch. Alu argued that the chain is no longer just about tokenized stocks. In his view, the more important shift is that stocks are starting to function as crypto-native, composable assets that can serve as quote legs, liquidity assets, collateral, and eventually inputs for lending, options, and other DeFi products. He said Robinhood Chain stands out because it combines a regulated brokerage entry point, retail distribution through Robinhood’s existing app and wallet, and a rapidly forming on-chain ecosystem that already includes Launchpads, stock-token pair trading, LP products, treasury structures, agents, memes, and new routing mechanisms.
The interview also framed LONG and PONS as two different issuance models. LONG was described as an “internalized” system that keeps value on its own balance sheet, while PONS was presented as a broader issuance layer that outsources innovation to ecosystem teams. Alu said projects such as AI, SHROOM, HOOKR, UBIK, BUN, PAID, ZZZ, and AGI should be viewed through the lenses of liquidity, rules, routing, agent infrastructure, and new issuance design. His central claim was that the larger opportunity may sit beyond meme activity and early launch speculation, in a later phase where Robinhood Chain develops lending, options, collateral, and other RWA DeFi infrastructure around tokenized equities.
