DAMO Academy2026-10-19 14:54:41Alibaba DAMO Academy unveils automotive RISC-V roadmap, with C950A targeting 5x current productsAlibaba’s DAMO Academy has released a processor roadmap aimed at autonomous driving and embodied intelligence at the RISC-V China Summit. The institute said its automotive-enhanced XuanTie E908A has become the first RISC-V CPU IP to meet both ASIL-B and ASIL-D standards, while its single-point fault metric, or SPFM, has exceeded 90% for the first time. DAMO Academy also said the next-generation C950A is being designed to deliver performance equal to five times that of existing automotive-grade RISC-V products. Chief Scientist Meng Jianyi said the XuanTie C950 has become a foundation for the evolution of high-performance RISC-V technology. For AI workloads, DAMO Academy said the XuanTie lineup is advancing integrated improvements across general-purpose computing, matrix acceleration, memory bandwidth and software coordination. It added that the C950 posts gains of more than 10% over mainstream traditional-architecture processors across four categories of Agentic workloads. The academy also highlighted its role in the broader open-source ecosystem, saying it is a major contributor and standards participant in the international RISC-V community, ranking second globally in RISC-V-related contributions to GCC, while more than half of the RISC-V code in OpenJDK comes from DAMO Academy.380
Alibaba DAMO 2026-10-19 06:14:10Alibaba DAMO Academy says Xuantie chip shipments have topped 6 billionAlibaba DAMO Academy said its Xuantie chip line has shipped more than 6 billion units to date, according to remarks made by chief scientist Meng Jianyi at the 2026 RISC-V China Summit. Xuantie is the RISC-V processor family developed by Alibaba DAMO Academy. At the same event, the institute also introduced the E908A, described as its first automotive-grade enhanced chip. Meng also cited a forecast from Omida saying annual global shipments of RISC-V processors are expected to grow by nearly 30% each year through 2030, with the architecture projected to account for about 25% of global processor shipments by that year. The update highlights both Alibaba’s current shipment scale in the RISC-V segment and its push into automotive applications through the new E908A release.440
