Southampton boss Tonda Eckert said Cyle Larin is a doubt for the games against West Brom and Preston because of a hamstring problem. Eckert also said the club are weighing up whether to take risks with Larin before the international break.
Hamstring issue
Larin has been managing a hamstring problem. Asked whether Larin is a doubt for both upcoming fixtures, Eckert said: "Yeah, it’s a fair assessment."
Decision on risk
Eckert said: "I said this earlier, Cyle knows his body. It’s a decision about how much we want to rush, and I think that’s still open."
Eckert said: "At the same time, if you have something towards the bottom end of your hamstring, it’s always a question of how much risk you want to take."
Eckert said: "Especially if then after you go into an international break, as we do."
Availability not ruled out
Eckert said: "So I think we’ll assess it, but I wouldn’t rule out that he might be available."
