GOAL reported that Bayern Munich became the only unbeaten team from Europe’s big five leagues this season after Barcelona suffered back-to-back defeats. Bayern confirmed that position with a 6-1 win over Magdeburg in the German Cup.
Barcelona’s run ends
Barcelona had won 11 in a row across all competitions before those two defeats. They then lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and to Real Madrid in La Liga.
Bayern’s unbeaten season
That left Bayern as the only side among Europe’s big five leagues yet to taste defeat in any competition this season. According to figures from the Opta network, Bayern have played 13 matches across all competitions this season, winning nine and drawing four.
Numbers since the start of 2026
GOAL reported that Bayern have scored 146 goals since the start of 2026, the strongest attack of any major league club in that period, according to Stats Foot in France. Since the start of 2026, Bayern have played 38 matches in all competitions, winning 29, drawing eight and losing once.
The only defeat
Bayern’s only defeat since the start of 2026 came against Paris Saint-Germain in last season’s Champions League semi-final.
