The closure decision
Barcelona decided to shut the "Gol 1957" stand for the match against Alavés. GOAL said the decision was taken by the board on 29 October.
Barcelona's explanation
Barcelona revealed on 30 October that the club's management had received confirmed information that incidents in the stand could trigger a stadium closure ordered by the disciplinary authorities.
Supporters' groups response
The groups that make up the supporters' stand argued that the entire collective was being punished over one fan waving a flag in the face of Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga.
Next steps
GOAL said Mundo Deportivo reported, citing sources inside Barcelona, that La Liga had filed a string of complaints against the club and referred them to the disciplinary committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The complaints were said to cover offensive chants, insults and other incidents in the "Gol 1957" stand during matches against Real Madrid, Getafe, Racing Santander and Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona will hold a meeting with representatives of the supporters' associations on Monday. If an agreement is struck, Barcelona plan to reopen the "Gol 1957" stand for the match against Aston Villa on Tuesday.
