Julian Brandt went off injured during Ajax's 1-0 Eredivisie win against AZ Alkmaar on Saturday evening. The result kept Ajax second in the table and moved them to within one point of leaders Feyenoord Rotterdam.
How the injury happened
Brandt went to ground in the 38th minute without any contact from an opponent. After brief treatment on the pitch, he was able to leave without assistance, although he limped slightly.
Oscar Gloukh replaced Brandt after he could not continue. Nothing indicated what injury Brandt had suffered, and a diagnosis is still pending.
Match outcome
Tolu Arokodare scored the winner for Ajax in the ninth minute as they beat AZ Alkmaar 1-0. Feyenoord Rotterdam had earlier drawn 1-1 against Fortuna Sittard.
Brandt's Ajax numbers
Brandt joined Ajax on a free transfer in the summer after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired. He has eight goals in 17 appearances across all competitions for Ajax.
Brandt provided his first two assists in an Ajax shirt in the 2-1 away win at Sparta Rotterdam.
