Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince said the club has launched legal action against Peterborough United over its approach for former manager Robbie Savage. Vince made the announcement in a short video on social media.
Vince announces legal process
In the video, Vince said Forest Green had "begun a legal process for the tapping up of our manager, now ex-manager, Robbie Savage".
Vince's account of the approach
Vince later claimed he was forced to agree to the move when Savage was approached directly. Vince told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "Peterborough themselves have covered themselves in no glory here. They came to us and said, 'We would like to speak to your manager,'"
He added: "We said no, and so they spoke to him, and then he came to us and said, 'I hear Peterborough want to speak to me.' So, that's an illegal approach."
Savage's exit and Peterborough's stance
Savage left Forest Green on 2 October, with them sitting 13th after 11 matches. Earlier in October, he joined Peterborough United.
Peterborough United had previously denied making an illegal approach for Savage. Posh chairman Darren MacAnthony wrote on X that the process to appoint a new manager was "100% correct and proper, following all the rules".
No comment to BBC Sport
BBC Sport reported that Peterborough United offered no comment on the legal action when contacted. Since joining Peterborough, Savage's record has been two wins, two draws and two losses in all competitions.
