GOAL profiled sports doctor Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco and his long-running work with Harry Kane. Their relationship began in March 2020 and has continued through Kane's preparation and recovery.
Elorriaga's background
Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco is a sports doctor born in Madrid who spent decades living in Canada. According to Marca, he has run the contemporary medical acupuncture programme at McMaster University in Canada since 1998 and also works as a clinical professor in the department of anaesthesia at McMaster University.
How the work started
GOAL said Kane was going through a difficult period after suffering a complete tear of the hamstring tendon in his left thigh during a match on 1 January, as reported by Marca. The injury required surgery and forced Kane off the pitch.
Since then, Elorriaga has guided Kane through his preparation and recovery, running individual training sessions designed to sharpen his physical fitness and help him cope with the demands of competing at the highest level.
Kane's words on the partnership
Kane told Marca in September: "Alejandro has played an extremely important role in my success".
He also said: "We work a great deal behind the scenes".
GOAL's season note
GOAL said Kane ended the 2025-2026 season with 73 goals in 65 matches for Bayern Munich and England. GOAL said Kane wanted to remember Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco when he collected the Ballon d'Or.
