HJK and Inter Turku both won their penultimate matches in the 2026 Veikkausliiga season on 2 November, taking the title fight to the final day on 8 November. KuPS were eliminated from contention after their defeat to AC Oulu and will finish in third place.
Title race goes to 8 November
Inter Turku stayed level on points with HJK. Owing to the goal difference, HJK need only to win on the final day.
Inter Turku will need to beat KuPS and hope HJK slip up against AC Oulu on the final day. HJK went into the matches with a goal difference 10 better than Inter Turku's.
HJK beat VPS
HJK beat VPS and are 10 league matches unbeaten. Mads Borchers scored for HJK with his 10th goal in six matches.
Santeri Haarala scored twice for HJK, and Alfie Cicale also scored.
Inter Turku beat Gnistan
Inter Turku beat Gnistan to remain level on points with HJK. Herman Sjogrell, Jean Botue, Luka Kuittinen and Muhammed Suso scored for Inter Turku.
Ruxi and Gabriel Europaeus scored for Gnistan, and Rachide Gnanou added another in the 93rd minute.
European place confirmed
The loss for Gnistan ensured Oulu have qualified for the UEFA Conference League. Gnistan are still four points behind Oulu and have missed out on Europe.
Gnistan will play VPS on the final day knowing fifth is theirs if they avoid losing by five goals or more.
