Inter and Milan presented plans for a new San Siro stadium on 29 October at the Sforzesco Castle in central Milan. The event took place with Inter fans protesting outside and Milan directors absent because of a shareholders' meeting.
Who attended the presentation
The press conference was held at the Sforzesco Castle in the city centre. Inter were represented by President Beppe Marotta and figures from club owners Oaktree, including Katherine Ralph.
Milan directors were not present because the press conference was scheduled at the same time as the shareholders’ meeting. Milan sent Chief Revenue Officer Maikel Oettle and Chief Brand Officer Francesca Montini instead.
Inter fan protest outside
Inter fans gathered outside with a banner to protest against the ultimate demolition of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The banner read: "Lights at San Siro, you will never switch them off."
Details of the new project
The original design presented by Milan and Inter a decade ago was no longer valid, so the clubs started from scratch with a new project drawn up by architect Norman Foster. It is reported to hold 71,500 seats, and construction should require an overall investment of €2 billion.
Image embargo
There was an embargo on the images until the evening of 29 October.
