Thibaut Courtois is back in Real Madrid's starting line-up against Racing on Sunday after missing the Clasico with a bout of illness. According to Marca, in Santander on Sunday he will draw level with Miguel Angel on 346 appearances to become the third most-capped goalkeeper in the club's history.

Back in the side

Courtois has been Real Madrid's undisputed number one since 2018. His contract renewal until at least 2028 is all but done.

Goalkeeping list

According to Marca, Paco Buyo played 454 matches for Real Madrid and Iker Casillas is on the list with 725.

Injury and return

A cruciate ligament rupture suffered in pre-season ahead of 2023-2024 cost Courtois 50 matches. He returned in time to play in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

European titles

Courtois has won two Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
