Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris said Brian Brobbey is not yet fully fit after a hamstring injury and should not be called up by the Netherlands.

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris said he believes Xavi should not call up Brian Brobbey for the next international break. The forward is still not fully fit after a hamstring injury suffered during the previous international break.

Le Bris sets out his view

Le Bris told a press conference that he believes Xavi should not include Brobbey in the next Netherlands squad. He said: "It would be to the detriment of both the Netherlands national team and us if he got injured, so I will speak to the national team coach about it."

Brobbey's fitness status

During the previous international break, Brobbey suffered a hamstring injury against Germany in a 1-1 draw. Brobbey made his first appearance for his club since the injury last Sunday.

Le Bris said: "He is close to 100 per cent, but not yet ready to play a full match. I think he is at around 80 or 90 per cent."

Sunderland cannot keep him back

Le Bris said Sunderland are unable to stop Brobbey from joining the national team. He said: "It is not possible to keep the player at home by saying that he is safe if he stays with us. We are obliged to let him go."

Netherlands schedule

The Netherlands face Greece on 13 November in the Nations League. Three days later, they are due to play away against Germany.
