Reports said Al-Hilal are preparing a January move for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, although neither Al-Hilal nor any other club have lodged an official offer so far. Fernandes is under contract until the summer of 2027 and rejected Al-Hilal's advances last year.
January plans and contract position
Tuttomercatoweb, as the single named source behind that claim, said Al-Hilal are preparing or lining up a move for Fernandes in January. Fernandes said he felt Manchester United would have sanctioned his departure.
Other interest in Fernandes
AC Milan are also keeping tabs on Fernandes's situation. Pedro Sepulveda believes Manchester United should part company with Fernandes.
Cascarino's view on valuation
Tony Cascarino said: "How many Manchester United players do you think you would get £60million for? Let’s just use that as a price tag. How many from Old Trafford would you buy for that?"
Cascarino said: "Would Bruno Fernandes go for £60m? You might from Saudi Arabia, but you wouldn’t from another Premier League team – there is no way that would happen."
Cascarino said: "I really don’t think a Premier League club would pay it. He’s 32, so would you pay £60m and put him on a huge wage? I would think absolutely not."
Cascarino said: "Has he been a great player for Man United? Yes, he has. He’s had periods where he has dragged the club out of trouble with his goals and his assists."
Other TEAMtalk claims
TEAMtalk reported that Manchester United are among the clubs who have been offered Folarin Balogun ahead of January. TEAMtalk also reported that Balogun had been the subject of an agreement to head to Everton in the summer, but that move fell through late on, and that a number of Premier League clubs have been sounded out as potential landing spots for him.
TEAMtalk reported, citing a source, that Barcelona insist there is no possibility of Fermin Lopez departing for any club. The source said: "Is this a serious question? Nobody has spoken to Barcelona about Fermin Lopez, as they know he is completely unattainable. It makes me laugh."
The source said: "Seriously, Fermin is special – we know that, and showed that with his new contract earlier this year. Hansi Flick knows it, which is why he is a key part of the team."
The source said: "Nothing to talk about here, there really isn’t – it actually borders on being disrespectful."
