Michael Dell publicly dismissed speculation that he is preparing a bid to purchase Everton from The Friedkin Group.
Dell's public response
Replying directly to a post alongside a laughing emoji, Dell wrote: "Who comes up with these stories?"
How the claim emerged
GOAL reported that journalist Alan Nixon initially reported on Sunday that the Dell family were considering a takeover approach.
GOAL also reported that fan account EFC DAILY (@EFCdaily_) cited reporter Lewis Steele on Thursday to write that Michael Dell is one of the players in the running to buy Everton.
The Friedkin Group's position
GOAL reported that The Friedkin Group indicated earlier in October that they are willing to offload their majority stake after less than two years in charge.
GOAL also reported that the Daily Mail reported earlier on Wednesday that The Friedkin Group are actively sounding out "serious" investors.
