Fabrizio Romano said Manchester United are expected to hold direct talks with Lisandro Martinez's camp over his future at the club in the coming days and weeks. The discussions are set to cover the option in his deal and whether he leaves or stays.
Romano outlines expected contacts
Romano said on his YouTube channel: "The answer I am getting is that this month, over the next days and weeks, there will be direct contacts between Lisandro Martínez’s camp and Manchester United to assess the situation and consider all the possibilities."
What the talks will cover
Romano said on his YouTube channel: "Whether to exercise the option, whether not to exercise the option, whether he leaves the club or whether he stays. There will be discussions on several points, including his behaviour, performances, future and contract."
Contract and Barcelona claim
TEAMtalk reported that Martinez is in the final year of his current contract, which includes a one-year extension option on the same terms. TEAMtalk reported that Barcelona have enquired for Martinez ahead of the winter transfer window. TEAMtalk also reported that the decision has been made for Martinez to leave Manchester United at some point in 2027, and that he could be involved in a swap deal with Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde.
Big decision for Manchester United
Romano said on his YouTube channel: "So, talks are expected to follow regarding the future of Lisandro Martínez because this is going to be a big decision for Manchester United."
The report said Martinez was red-carded and that Manchester United lost 2-0 on Saturday.
