Marcus Thuram goes into Inter's derby on 31 October hoping his recent form will earn him a recall to the France squad. The forward has started every game since the October international break and takes a run of league goals into the match.
Starts since the break
He has started all six games since the October international break. According to the Corriere dello Sport, the 29-year-old has stepped up with Lautaro Martínez out injured.
Goals in the league
Thuram has scored in three straight league matches, against Parma, Bologna and Fiorentina. He also forced the first of Venezia’s two own goals in Wednesday’s 2-0 win.
Derby and selection
Thuram's last goal against Milan came in Inter’s last derby win, on 22 April 2024. Injuries have kept him out of three derbies across Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana since then. He is expected to start up front on 31 October with Francesco Pio Esposito, or Ange-Yoan Bonny.
France hopes after the derby
Cristian Chivu confirmed on Friday that Thuram is in good shape despite his heavy workload. After the derby, Inter have a Champions League trip to Feyenoord and a home game against Como before the break. Corriere dello Sport believes Zinédine Zidane will find it hard to leave Thuram out of the France squad this time if his form holds.
