Marcus Thuram said Inter need a change of mentality after Saturday’s derby defeat before Tuesday’s Champions League game away to Feyenoord. Football Italia, citing Corriere dello Sport, said Thuram spoke alongside Cristian Chivu before the match, which kicks off at 21:00 CET in Rotterdam.
Thuram on Inter's mentality
Thuram said he agreed with what Nicolò Barella and Alessandro Bastoni said about the squad’s mentality having to change.
Thuram said: "I fully agree with what they said. They’re two leaders, and their words were important."
Thuram said: "The attitude we had in that game, especially when we were down to 10, must be the same one we show again in both the Champions League and the league."
What followed the derby defeat
Inter lost to Milan on Saturday. Football Italia said the loss was Inter’s first league defeat of the season.
Football Italia said it was Inter’s eighth derby in a row without a win.
SempreMilan said Diego Moreira assisted Christian Pulisic and set up Adrien Rabiot from a corner in the 10th minute.
SempreMilan said Moreira scored from a free-kick just before half-time.
Thuram's minutes and role
Football Italia said Thuram has started every game since the October international break.
Thuram said: "I’m very happy with the minutes I’m getting."
Football Italia said Lautaro Martínez was out injured.
Football Italia said Thuram played alone up front on Saturday after Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny were struck down by fever.
Thuram said: "My role? I can also play as a lone striker. I don’t have a problem with that."
Inter's position in the competition
Football Italia said Inter have three points from their first three games in the competition.
Football Italia said Chivu believes around 16 will be needed for a top-eight finish.
