René van der Gijp said on Monday that Tijjani Reijnders' summer move to Al-Qadisya was sad because he is no longer in a top European league.

René van der Gijp said on Monday's KieftJansenEgmondGijp that he was disappointed Tijjani Reijnders is no longer playing in a top European league. He said he wished the 39-cap Netherlands international had not chosen Al-Qadisya in the summer.

What van der Gijp said

Van der Gijp said: "When you watch AC Milan - Inter and see the atmosphere. And then you see Tijjani Reijnders playing in empty stadiums."

Van der Gijp said: "And you can celebrate, but nobody celebrates with you."

Van der Gijp said: "Because the people who are there are, I think, people who work there. They get a free ticket; they're people from Vietnam and all those sorts of countries. That's sad."

The move to Al-Qadisya

A few months ago, Al-Qadisya paid around €60 million to sign Reijnders from Manchester City. Reijnders signed a four-year contract with Al-Qadisya.

Reijnders' numbers

Reijnders has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances for Al-Qadisya. The 28-year-old Dutchman scored a hat-trick against Al-Riyadh in a 0-6 win.

Presenter's view

Presenter Michel van Egmond said: "They always have the idea that they'll fill the coffers and then return to Europe. But I wonder whether that's possible."
