BBC Sport reviewed Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City on 31 October after nine Premier League games. The three promoted clubs have collected a combined 31 points, the 13th-highest tally by promoted sides at this stage in Premier League history.
Coventry City climb after Sunderland win
Coventry City beat Sunderland 3-1 on Saturday 31 October, a result that lifted them to 15th in the table. They have nine points from nine games.
By the end of their first month back in the Premier League, Coventry City had lost all four of their matches by a combined score of 10-0. Since the 5-0 defeat by Brighton almost six weeks earlier, they have won three of their next five matches.
Coventry City spent more than £140m on 12 permanent signings in the summer. BBC Sport said those arrivals included Caleb Yirenkyi for a club-record fee, Carl Rushworth from Brighton, Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce, Loum Tchaouna from Burnley and Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest.
Midfielder Jack Rudoni said: "We always had that belief."
Rudoni said: "We have a really good squad here, where the morale is good and we get behind each other, which is what we will continue to do all season."
Rudoni said: "We know it's not going to be an easy ride, there's going to be ups and downs - but hopefully more ups than downs. Starting today with another three points, so we can build on that now."
Ipswich Town and Hull City share points
Ipswich Town drew 2-2 with Hull City on Saturday 31 October. Hull City and Ipswich Town both have 11 points after nine games.
Ipswich Town finished 19th in 2024-25 with four wins from 38 Premier League games, but secured an immediate return to the top flight. BBC Sport said the club's summer business was headlined by the return of Julio Enciso, who spent part of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Portman Road.
O'Neil said: "It's tough to be in control and find yourselves 2-1 down with the place bouncing."
O'Neil said: "Our lads have some character and we just need to keep it up. Hull are a very good side and I'm really pleased with how we did against them."
Enciso's contribution
BBC Sport said Julio Enciso assisted Ipswich Town's opening goal against Sunderland and set up another against Manchester United at Old Trafford the following week. BBC Sport also said Enciso scored in consecutive matches against Nottingham Forest and Hull City.
Hull City's early results
Hull City beat Manchester United 2-0 on the opening weekend. They then won 1-0 at Coventry after beating Manchester United, and also drew against Aston Villa and Chelsea early in the season.
Since suffering their first defeat of the season, Hull City have collected three points from their four matches since. Arsenal and Brighton are Hull City's next two opponents.
