One straight-line figure changes how you read every other distance
The nearest documented venue to Tunica is Gold Strike, 1.5 miles away as a straight-line, great-circle measurement. That number describes the shortest path across the earth's surface between two fixed coordinate pairs, not a route anyone can drive.
Road distance is always longer, and this article does not publish driving mileage or travel time. A straight-line figure cannot tell you how long a trip takes, which roads exist, or what a bridge or county boundary does to the route.
Where Tunica sits and why the nearest venue is close on paper
Tunica is a city in Mississippi with documented coordinates of 34.83 latitude and -90.31611111 longitude. Gold Strike sits at 34.84635, -90.33255, which places it slightly north and west of the Tunica reference point. The 1.5-mile straight-line gap reflects how near the two coordinate pairs are, not how the local road network connects them.
The area around Tunica is low-lying Mississippi Delta terrain, where road alignments can follow levees, field boundaries, and river crossings rather than the shortest geometric line between two points. A venue can be a mile and a half straight-line away yet require a noticeably longer road trip.

Why straight-line distance and road distance diverge
A great-circle line ignores everything a vehicle must respect. It crosses property lines, fields, waterways, and state borders without regard for where a road runs. The road network, by contrast, follows engineered alignments shaped by river crossings, levee systems, rail corridors, and decades of land-use decisions.
In a riverside region like Tunica, water is the largest single source of divergence. A straight line may cross a river or oxbow lake where no bridge exists, forcing a route miles out of the way. County and state road grids also run on surveyed section lines rather than toward any particular venue, so even a short straight-line gap can require several turns.
What the venue's owner and scale tell you about the area
Gold Strike is documented as owned by Vici Properties, with 1,400 slot machines, 52 table games, and 50,000 square feet of gaming space. Those figures describe a documented point in time and are revised as properties are rebuilt or expanded. They establish Gold Strike as the large, immediately adjacent venue in the Tunica area, but they do not confirm whether keno is offered there.
This article is about fixed geography, not about which games a property currently spreads. Keno availability is a live operational detail that changes by property and by season. The fixed position of the venue is knowable; the current game mix is not something a coordinate pair can answer.
If your question starts from "me" or "my location"
The venue's position is fixed. Your starting point is not. No article can measure a distance from an unspecified reader location, and this one will not guess a city for you. What you can do is anchor yourself to the same coordinate system the venue uses.
Take your own latitude and longitude, or the coordinates of your departure city, and compare them against Tunica's documented 34.83, -90.31611111. The table above gives you fixed reference pairs. Your own distance to Tunica is a separate measurement you make from your own starting point, using a mapping tool that respects the actual road network.
What to confirm before you go
Three things change between the time you read this and the time you arrive, and none of them are in a coordinate table. Confirm each through the property's own published channels before travelling.
- Whether keno is currently offered at the specific venue, and in what form — live draw, video keno, or both.
- The venue's current operating hours and any entry or age requirements.
- Road conditions, closures, and the actual driving route from your starting point, which no straight-line figure can supply.
The venue's own website and guest services line are the authoritative channels for the first two. A current mapping application is the right tool for the third.
FAQ
Does the 1.5-mile figure mean Gold Strike is a two-minute drive from Tunica?
No. The 1.5-mile figure is a straight-line, great-circle measurement between coordinate pairs. Road distance is always longer, and this article does not publish driving mileage or travel time. The actual route depends on local roads, river crossings, and your exact starting point within Tunica.
How many casinos are there in Tunica?
This article cannot state a total number of casinos for Tunica or any other place. The documentation behind this article records 318 venues measured to Tunica, but that is not a census. The Mississippi Gaming Commission maintains the complete current list and is the correct authority to consult.
Can this article tell me where to play keno in Tunica?
No. This article describes the fixed geography of the area and the documented straight-line distances to nearby venues. Whether any specific venue currently offers keno is a live operational detail that changes. Confirm current keno availability directly with the property before travelling.
