On April 11, 2026, cloud infrastructure provider CoreWeave (Nasdaq: CRWV) announced a multi-year agreement with artificial intelligence company Anthropic to provide GPU-accelerated computing for its Claude family of AI models. Under the agreement, CoreWeave will begin deploying compute resources in a phased rollout starting in the second half of 2025, with the potential for expansion over time. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Anthropic Joins Elite AI Client Roster

The deal makes Anthropic the latest addition to CoreWeave's client base, which now includes nine out of the world's top ten AI model providers, such as OpenAI, Meta, and Microsoft. CoreWeave co-founder and CEO Michael Intrator stated: "We are excited to work with Anthropic at the core of where models are put to work and performance is seen in production. This is exactly the kind of real-world AI deployment CoreWeave was built for." Founded in 2021 and headquartered in San Francisco, Anthropic competes directly with OpenAI and Google with its Claude models. The company has been expanding its infrastructure partnerships as demand for its models grows among developers, startups, and enterprise customers.

Financial Strength and Market Position

CoreWeave went public on the Nasdaq on March 28, 2025, raising approximately $1.5 billion in one of the largest AI-related IPOs to date. The company reported $5.13 billion in revenue for the full year 2025 and holds a backlog of $66.8 billion in remaining performance obligations. For 2026, CoreWeave forecasts revenue between $12 billion and $13 billion. Historically, Microsoft contributed more than 60% of CoreWeave's revenue, but the company has actively diversified its client base. OpenAI holds a contract valued at over $12 billion, and Meta signed an expanded infrastructure agreement worth $21 billion. Anthropic's addition further reduces single-client concentration risk.

From Ethereum Miner to AI Cloud Leader

CoreWeave's origins are unconventional: founded in 2017 as Atlantic Crypto, the company initially operated as an Ethereum mining operation. During the crypto market downturn from 2018 to 2019, it pivoted its GPU inventory toward rendering and machine learning workloads, rebranded as CoreWeave, and fully transitioned into AI cloud infrastructure. This strategic shift positioned the company to capture surging generative AI demand. Today, CoreWeave holds the highest "Platinum" rating in both Semianalysis ClusterMAX 1.0 and 2.0, which evaluate AI cloud performance, efficiency, and reliability. The company also achieved industry-leading scores in the MLPerf benchmark for AI workloads.

Infrastructure Scale and Expansion Plans

As of 2026, CoreWeave operates 32 to 43 data centers across the United States and Europe, deploying hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs, including the H100, H200, and the latest Blackwell GB200 NVL72 series. Nvidia is not only a key supplier but also holds a strategic equity stake in CoreWeave and has committed an additional $2 billion investment in 2026. CoreWeave plans capital expenditures of $30 billion to $35 billion in 2026 to fuel expansion. The company targets 1.7 gigawatts of power capacity by the end of 2026, with a longer-term goal of multi-gigawatt expansion in partnership with Nvidia by 2030. Through these investments, CoreWeave aims to achieve a revenue run rate exceeding $30 billion by the end of 2027.
