Odaily reported that since the start of the year, AI hardware-related sectors in the U.S. stock market, including semiconductors and optical communications, have moved higher. The rally has also extended to the upstream part of the industrial chain, with the semiconductor equipment segment rising in tandem.
Nine major semiconductor equipment companies are up more than 75%
Among U.S.-listed semiconductor equipment companies with total market capitalizations above $10 billion, all nine have recorded share-price gains of more than 75% so far this year. The data covers larger companies in the semiconductor equipment field and shows a broad advance across this part of the AI hardware supply chain.
Seven of those stocks have doubled year to date: Applied Materials, Lam Research, KLA, Teradyne, MKS Inc, Entegris, and Onto Innovation Inc. These companies are all tied to the semiconductor equipment chain, and their gains of more than 100% mark the spread of the AI hardware investment boom toward upstream equipment suppliers.
