Balyasny fell 1.5% last month, narrowing its return for the first seven months of the year to 1.2%, according to a person familiar with the matter. Verition dropped 1.1%, bringing its year-to-date gain down to 4.5%, another person said. Both people asked not to be identified because the performance figures are private.
