Alibaba’s DAMO Academy has released a processor roadmap aimed at autonomous driving and embodied intelligence at the RISC-V China Summit. The institute said its automotive-enhanced XuanTie E908A has become the first RISC-V CPU IP to meet both ASIL-B and ASIL-D standards, while its single-point fault metric, or SPFM, has exceeded 90% for the first time. DAMO Academy also said the next-generation C950A is being designed to deliver performance equal to five times that of existing automotive-grade RISC-V products. Chief Scientist Meng Jianyi said the XuanTie C950 has become a foundation for the evolution of high-performance RISC-V technology. For AI workloads, DAMO Academy said the XuanTie lineup is advancing integrated improvements across general-purpose computing, matrix acceleration, memory bandwidth and software coordination. It added that the C950 posts gains of more than 10% over mainstream traditional-architecture processors across four categories of Agentic workloads. The academy also highlighted its role in the broader open-source ecosystem, saying it is a major contributor and standards participant in the international RISC-V community, ranking second globally in RISC-V-related contributions to GCC, while more than half of the RISC-V code in OpenJDK comes from DAMO Academy.

XuanTie C950 positioned for high-performance and AI workloads

Meng Jianyi, chief scientist at DAMO Academy, said the XuanTie C950 has become an innovation base for the evolution of high-performance RISC-V technology.

For AI applications, DAMO Academy said the XuanTie product family is pushing integrated gains in general-purpose computing, matrix acceleration, memory bandwidth and software coordination. It added that the XuanTie C950 delivers performance improvements of more than 10% over mainstream processors based on traditional architectures across four categories of Agentic workloads.

Open-source and standards work

DAMO Academy also said XuanTie is an important open-source contributor and standards participant in the international RISC-V community.

In compiler development, the academy ranks second globally in RISC-V-related contributions to the GCC community. In the Java ecosystem, it said more than half of the RISC-V code in the OpenJDK community comes from DAMO Academy.
