AltX Research, the blockchain development company behind Japan Smart Chain, has renamed the network to "MIZUHIKI: The Japan Chain," according to a Techub News item citing CoinPost. The company said the business will no longer be limited to offering a blockchain alone. Instead, it plans to operate as a broader platform focused on stablecoin issuance that complies with Japanese regulations, payment infrastructure, and payment service provider, or PSP, functions. AltX Research also said it will make its mainnet public and launch a subsidy-based proof-of-concept, or PoC, for payments. The announcement points to a wider repositioning of the project from a chain brand into a more comprehensive payments-oriented infrastructure business in Japan.
