Anthropic Abandons $6B Acquisition of AI Startup Decart

Anthropic, the developer of Claude, has decided not to proceed with acquiring AI startup Decart AI, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg. The company had studied the deal and conducted due diligence on Decart, but ultimately chose to walk away. The two sides may still explore other forms of cooperation in the future. Representatives for Anthropic and Decart declined to comment. Bloomberg previously reported that Anthropic had discussed acquiring Decart for roughly $6 billion, though the transaction was never finalized. Decart develops software that improves chip efficiency, aiming to reduce the cost of training and running AI models. Anthropic rarely engages in large acquisitions. It is currently focused on scaling compute to develop new products, serve customers, and prepare for a closely watched initial public offering.
