According to TechFlow, citing Cointelegraph on June 13, Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox said that a security audit of the Zcash protocol commissioned by Shielded Labs and carried out using Anthropic’s Mythos AI model did not uncover any new severe vulnerabilities. The statement relates to the Zcash protocol and follows an earlier incident involving the Orchard shielded pool.

Orchard Transactions Were Paused on June 3

Before this audit result was disclosed, security researcher Taylor Hornby used Claude Opus 4.8 to identify a forgery vulnerability in the Orchard shielded pool that had existed for four years. Following that discovery, developers urgently paused Orchard transactions on June 3 and completed the fix on the same day.

The Zcash Foundation later confirmed that there was no evidence the vulnerability had been exploited, and that user privacy was not affected. The audit commissioned by Shielded Labs and conducted with Anthropic Mythos AI was therefore presented as an additional security update after the June 3 fix, with Wilcox emphasizing that no new severe vulnerabilities were found.
