BuzzlamicJihad, the pseudonymous memer who later became an advisor to Aptos, has left that role and is now turning his attention to Meta stock.
Buzz told Decrypt that his partnership with Aptos had run its course. The former advisor is now ramping up the kind of meme-driven social media campaign that helped make his name in crypto, this time aimed at Facebook parent Meta.
Contract with Aptos ended after one year
Known as Buzz to friends and family, BuzzlamicJihad rose to prominence in early 2025 when his unofficial 「community takeover」 of Aptos helped lift the token’s value.
That push followed months of cultivating a committed investor community and flooding timelines with memes, including the phrases 「Aptos lookin’ good here」 and 「sidelined?」
In October 2025, Buzz officially joined Aptos as an advisor. At the time, he told Decrypt he wanted to repair the project’s image problem and position Aptos as a premium stablecoin network.
One year later, the contract expired and he chose not to renew it.
「I didn’t see it going anywhere else, and some of the plans I had didn’t work out as intended,」 Buzz told Decrypt. 「So, I didn’t bother extending it and they didn’t seem willing to either anyways, so it’s mutual.」
Aptos did not respond to Decrypt’s request for comment.
According to Decrypt data, APT has fallen 10.7% since the start of the month, leaving it with a $607 million market capitalization. Buzz said he has sold his APT.
Why Meta is now the target
Buzz said his shift toward Meta follows directly from the original thesis behind his Aptos campaign, which was rooted in Aptos’ ties to Facebook.
He told Decrypt last year that he made his money through Facebook advertising and had strong conviction in the team behind the social media company. That was a major reason he cared so much about Aptos, a crypto project built by developers from Libra, the now-defunct stablecoin initiative led by Facebook.
How the Aptos campaign took shape
In 2024, Buzz began posting aggressively about Aptos on social media, making sweeping claims about its upside, including a prediction that it would surpass XRP in market capitalization.
After Aptos Labs founder Mo Shaikh stepped down in December 2024, Buzz bought more and started saying he was launching a 「community takeover」 that had not been 「priced in.」 He repeated that phrase at least seven times through January.
At the same time, he spammed timelines with slogans such as 「Aptos lookin’ good here,」 「sidelined?」 and 「motion not priced in yet.」
By February 2025, the strategy had started to work. Several notable influencers backed him, more attention flowed to Aptos, and the APT token rose 17% in 24 hours.
He says the Meta playbook will be different
Buzz said this campaign will not mirror the Aptos effort.
「I don’t think META is failing obviously and needs a hostile takeover, but retail is kind of forgotten, especially with the recent Class C share creation with no voting ability,」 he told Decrypt. 「It’s also not entirely dependent on memetics here; I actually think they have strong fundamentals too.」
His social media push has already started as he tests what resonates. He has posted 「META looking good here」 and says he has moved all communications off Telegram and onto Meta-owned WhatsApp, although Decrypt said it spoke with him through Telegram while reporting the story.
Yahoo Finance data shows Meta was down 1.2% on the day the campaign began, with a market capitalization of $1.59 trillion.
That makes Meta 2,619 times larger than Aptos by market value, which means moving the stock in any meaningful way would be a much harder task.
A challenge far larger than the GameStop example
A partial comparison is Roaring Kitty, the meme-stock influencer who became central to the GameStop trading frenzy.
Through posts on the r/WallStreetBets subreddit and livestreams, Roaring Kitty rallied a large base of retail investors behind GameStop while major hedge funds were shorting the stock. The episode helped send GME to an all-time high, inflicted major losses on hedge funds, and later inspired the 2023 film Dumb Money.
But the scale is very different. GameStop currently has a market capitalization of $11.85 billion, meaning Buzz’s Meta challenge is 134 times larger.
Roaring Kitty briefly returned to social media in 2024 after more than two years of inactivity. Since then, he has again faded from view, despite unsubstantiated rumors that he might join the GameStop board.
Buzz still ties Meta to a crypto future
Even so, Buzz said he wants to help push Meta into a new era.
「I do think [Meta’s AI agent] Muse could also benefit hugely from stablecoin float economics from the original vision of GlobalCoin (later becoming Libra/Diem), so it’s not out of the question that they go back into crypto in a huge way,」 Buzz told Decrypt. 「And if they chose me to lead this in some capacity, I would be honored to do so.」
