The primary network consists of three built-in blockchains: the X-Chain (asset creation and trading), the C-Chain (EVM-compatible smart contracts), and the P-Chain (validator coordination and subnet management). Assets move freely among them.

AVAX has a capped supply of 720 million tokens. Its three core functions are paying network fees (entirely burned, mirroring Ethereum’s EIP-1559), staking to earn rewards (users can pool tokens to run validators), and subnet account settlement. Investors can buy AVAX on exchanges like Binance or Kraken. When withdrawing to a wallet like MetaMask, they must select the C-Chain to avoid irreversible fund loss. Cross-chain bridges such as Hop Exchange facilitate token transfers between Avalanche and other networks.

Avalanche vs. Ethereum

Ethereum retains the largest dApp ecosystem, but Avalanche wins on speed and cost. Alongside higher TPS and lower fees, Avalanche’s C-Chain is EVM-compatible, allowing Ethereum developers to migrate with minimal changes. For DeFi users who prioritize low slippage and fast confirmations, Avalanche provides a more economical execution environment.

Future: The Teleporter Tool

In March 2024, the team released Teleporter, a tool designed to streamline messaging across subnets. As the network scales, improving inter-subnet communication and maintaining low costs will be vital for Avalanche’s continued growth.
