Aven Financial has launched the Aven Bitcoin Visa Card at Bitcoin Conference 2026 in Las Vegas, offering cardholders access to revolving credit secured by Bitcoin collateral. The company said users can unlock up to $1 million in credit without selling their BTC, which means the transaction does not create a capital gains tax event.

Key terms center on rate, duration, and rewards

The product’s headline figures are straightforward: APR starting at 7.99%, fixed-rate terms of up to 10 years, and 2% unlimited cash back on purchases. Aven also said the card carries no annual fee and no account opening fee, keeping the fee structure simple.

Borrowers can choose between two repayment formats. One is a fixed-rate, fixed-term option running as long as 10 years. The other allows an interest-only period of up to 5 years. The structure is aimed at long-term Bitcoin holders who want liquidity but do not want to sell their coins in the near term.

BitGo custody and bank issuance under Visa network

Custody and issuance are central to any Bitcoin-backed credit product. Aven said the BTC collateral will be held through institutional custody provided by BitGo Inc. and BitGo Bank & Trust, the latter operating under oversight from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The credit card itself is issued by Coastal Community Bank, a Washington state-chartered bank and FDIC member, and runs on the Visa network.

The setup shows Aven is positioning the product inside an established compliance structure while keeping the experience close to a standard consumer credit card. The pitch is less about on-chain activity and more about turning Bitcoin holdings into usable borrowing capacity inside traditional payments rails.

Aven extends its collateral model from home equity to BTC

Founded in 2019, Aven Financial first entered the market with a home equity credit card product and describes itself as the first “machine-banking platform” in the United States. The company says it has reached a $2.2 billion valuation. As of March 2026, Aven also claimed its users had saved more than $300 million in interest expenses through its platform.

Its move from real-estate-backed credit into Bitcoin-backed lending follows the same basic approach: use pledged assets to lower borrowing costs for holders. Whether the Bitcoin Visa Card can reach the same scale as Aven’s earlier home equity offering remains an open question as the market watches rollout and adoption.
