Investment firm Bernstein said in a report that the expanded 48-team 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will open in North America, is expected to bring up to $10 billion in consumer trading volume to sports betting and prediction markets. The report also estimated more than $3 billion in incremental funds tied to the event.

Bernstein analysts described the tournament as a turning point for prediction markets and online sports betting platforms, saying it would accelerate the development of platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket. The report also noted that Robinhood is using the opportunity to commercialize Rothera, its CFTC-licensed prediction market exchange.

Beyond Robinhood, institutions including Binance and Coinbase are also offering World Cup contracts through partnerships. On the Myriad platform, Spain and France currently have the strongest support to win the tournament. The information was reported by Odaily, citing Decrypt.
