Binance released a security report this week revealing that its AI-driven security systems blocked approximately $10.53 billion in potential user losses between early 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. The exchange said that during the same period, more than 5.4 million users were shielded from phishing, deepfake, and AI-powered fraud attempts. This figure underscores a shift from traditional rule-based defenses to intelligent model-driven protection.
100+ AI Models Cover 57% of Fraud Detection
Binance stated it now operates over 100 AI models alongside 24 AI-focused security initiatives. These systems target phishing attacks, fake payment proofs, synthetic identities, and AI-powered social engineering scams. In Q1 2026 alone, the company intercepted 22.9 million scam and phishing attempts, helping protect nearly $1.98 billion in user funds.AI-driven controls now manage roughly 57% of Binance's fraud detection systems, reducing card fraud rates by 60% to 70% compared to industry benchmarks.
KYC Efficiency Boost: 100x Faster with AI
As threats evolved, Binance improved its identity verification systems. The company noted that its AI-assisted KYC processes achieved up to 100 times greater operational efficiency than manual reviews. This translates to significantly faster processing of new account and transaction verification requests without sacrificing accuracy.
AI Fraud Tool Costs Drop to $1.22 per Contract
Binance Research reported that AI-related scams continue to grow as attackers gain access to cheaper tools. Smart contract exploit costs have fallen to $1.22 per contract, down 22% month-over-month. Meanwhile, 76% of AI-driven scams now fall within the highest severity category, involving voice cloning, impersonation, phishing bots, and fake platforms.
Double Protection: AI Pro Isolated Trading Environment
To address these risks, Binance introduced Binance Ai Pro, a controlled environment for AI-managed trading activity. The company stated that funds controlled by AI agents remain separated from primary user accounts, and withdrawal permissions stay disabled. This provides an extra safety lock for high-frequency or automated strategies.
Recovery & Enforcement: $12.8M Returned, 71,000 Law Enforcement Requests
Binance acknowledged that prevention alone cannot stop every attack. The exchange expanded recovery and enforcement cooperation in 2025, helping users recover $12.8 million across 48,000 cases last year. Additionally, Binance assisted authorities in confiscating $131 million in illicit funds while processing over 71,000 law enforcement requests.
