Binance founder Changpeng Zhao met with Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of AI and Digital Development, Zhaslan Madiyev, in Kazakhstan. Zhao noted the rapid growth of the local cryptocurrency industry. Madiyev, a former Binance Kazakhstan general manager (2022-2024), has held various ministerial roles since May 2024, including Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, and later Deputy Prime Minister.

Madiyev and Zhao go back a while. Madiyev was the general manager of Binance Kazakhstan from 2022 to 2024. Then, in May 2024, he became Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry. Later, he was elevated to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of AI and Digital Development in 2025 and 2026.
