Binance Pay will allow eligible overseas users visiting Japan to pay with USDT at most merchants that accept PayPay starting Wednesday, according to ChainCatcher. The service will run through the HIVEX payment interoperability framework, while merchants will continue to receive settlement in Japanese yen. Binance said this is the first crypto payment service to connect to PayPay’s merchant network through HIVEX, and merchants do not need to file a separate application or manually activate the function. PayPay is currently accepted at millions of locations across Japan, including large chain stores, small and mid-sized retailers, vending machines, taxis, and public transportation. HIVEX also supports nine cross-border payment services, mainly from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The report also cited Japan tourism figures, saying the country received 42.7 million international visitors in 2025, while visitor arrivals in the first eight months of 2026 reached 27.6 million, down 2.7% year over year.
