U.S. Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $532 million in net capital inflows on May 4, marking the third consecutive day of positive inflows. On the same trading day, U.S. Ethereum spot ETFs added $61.29 million, indicating synchronized institutional demand for both major crypto assets.
Three-Day Streak Signals Institutional Conviction
The significance of the three-day sequence extends beyond the headline numbers, particularly in the crypto ETF market where multi-day inflows suggest that institutional buyers do not view price movements as short-term trading events but rather as accumulation opportunities. Positive flows of this magnitude over three consecutive days point more to coordinated conviction than to one-off positioning.
Ethereum ETFs have been slower to attract the kind of sustained institutional capital that Bitcoin products have enjoyed since their launch in January 2024. However, a trading day in which both product types show significant positive inflows suggests broad institutional interest rather than Bitcoin-only positioning. At current prices, Ether remains well below its all-time highs, offering institutional investors a larger relative discount than Bitcoin. Analysts are monitoring whether the combination of lower prices and growing ETF infrastructure can attract sustained capital inflows similar to what BTC experienced in October 2025.
April Inflows Hit Seven-Month High
Notably, total spot BTC ETF inflows for April reached $2.44 billion, the strongest monthly figure since October 2025. Historically, sustained ETF inflows correlate with continued price appreciation. Institutional buying creates steady demand, reduces available supply on exchanges, and lowers the selling pressure that typically follows sudden price moves. Bitcoin's break above $81,000 on Tuesday directly followed the accumulation pattern built over the past two weeks.
Fidelity and BlackRock Continue to Ramp Up
On Friday, roughly $630 million in net inflows entered the ETF complex ahead of the weekend, spurred by Fidelity, which added $19 million to its FBTC product. Similarly, BlackRock's European Bitcoin exchange-traded product (ETP) crossed the $1.1 billion assets-under-management threshold, holding 14,200 BTC as of May 4.
Bitcoin Breaks $81K Amid ETF Flows, Easing Iran Tensions and Short Squeeze
Bitcoin broke above the $81,000 level, its highest since January, driven by the $2.44 billion in ETF investment inflows, easing geopolitical tensions with Iran, and a short squeeze. President Trump's "Project Freedom" initiative also contributed to positive sentiment. If the inflow streak extends to a fourth consecutive day, the technical and fundamental arguments supporting further price appreciation could significantly strengthen.
