Bitcoin has climbed 44% this quarter to nearly $85,000, marking its strongest quarterly performance since the fourth quarter of 2024 after three straight quarters of declines, according to a CoinDesk report citing Bitfinex data. The rally has prompted some holders to lock in gains, but the scale of realized profit still looks modest compared with prior cycle peaks. Bitfinex said BTC holders have recently realized about $2.4 billion in cumulative profit, versus the $7 billion to $10 billion in single-day realized profit often seen around historical market tops. At the same time, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $2.84 billion in net inflows over the past six trading days, exceeding the profit realized by BTC holders over the same period. Year-to-date net inflows are close to $800 million. On the Ethereum side, Bitfinex said about 410,000 ETH left exchanges over the past month, while U.S. spot Ether ETFs attracted a combined $680 million over four consecutive trading days. CoinDesk said that, with recent fund inflows and the current scale of holder profit-taking in view, major crypto assets including BTC and ETH have not shown clear weakness following Bitget's roughly $452 million security incident.

Bitcoin has risen 44% this quarter to nearly $85,000, its best quarterly showing since the fourth quarter of 2024, according to CoinDesk, which cited Bitfinex data. The move follows three consecutive quarters of declines for BTC.

Profit-taking remains below levels seen at historical tops

As prices moved higher, some holders began taking profits. Bitfinex data showed that BTC holders have recently realized about $2.4 billion in cumulative profit. By comparison, single-day realized profit during historical market-top periods typically reached $7 billion to $10 billion, leaving the current scale of profit-taking clearly below prior peak conditions.

Spot Bitcoin ETF inflows outpaced realized profit

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $2.84 billion in cumulative net inflows over the past six trading days, more than the profit realized by BTC holders over the same period. On a year-to-date basis, cumulative net inflows are close to $800 million.

ETH exchange outflows and ETF inflows continued

Bitfinex also said about 410,000 ETH moved off exchanges over the past month. In the U.S., spot Ether ETFs attracted a combined $680 million over four consecutive trading days.

Major crypto assets have not shown clear weakness

CoinDesk said that, given recent capital inflows and the scale of holder profit-taking, major crypto assets including BTC and ETH have not shown obvious weakness following Bitget's roughly $452 million security incident.
