Bitget said it will roll out an Open Custody Network, or OCN, built around the idea of "Assets in Bank, Tradings on Bitget." According to the company, the network is designed to connect banks, custodians and other professional financial institutions with Bitget’s trading infrastructure, rather than keeping custody and execution inside the same centralized exchange structure.
The company said OCN combines independent asset custody, bank- and institution-grade security protections, integrated exchange trading services and capital efficiency. Through an asset-mapping mechanism, the network links independently custodied assets with trading services, allowing eligible users to keep separate control over custody while accessing Bitget’s spot, margin and futures markets. Bitget said those users will also be able to tap exchange-level liquidity and unified trading services.
Bitget added that the model is intended to lower the barrier to market participation and broaden access to financial services on a more equal basis. CEO Gracy Chen said OCN is meant to break with the traditional requirement that users must place assets on an exchange before using its trading services, while still giving them access to liquidity and efficient capital use.
Bitget said it will launch an Open Custody Network, or OCN, according to an official announcement cited by ChainCatcher.
Built around the idea of "Assets in Bank, Tradings on Bitget," the network is intended to connect banks, custodians and other professional financial institutions with Bitget’s trading infrastructure.
Custody and trading are being separated
Bitget said OCN brings together independent asset custody, bank- and institution-grade security protections, integrated exchange trading services and capital efficiency. The company said the setup breaks from the traditional centralized exchange model, where custody and trading are concentrated on the same platform.
Through an asset-mapping mechanism, OCN links independent custody with trading services. Eligible users can keep independent custody rights over their assets while participating in Bitget spot, margin and futures trading, with access to exchange-level liquidity and integrated trading services.
Company says the model lowers access barriers
Bitget said the network is also designed to lower the threshold for trading participation and allow more users to access financial services on a more equal basis.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said: "OCN is designed to break the traditional model in which users must custody assets on an exchange in order to use its trading services. It allows users to choose how their assets are held while still gaining access to strong liquidity and efficient capital use, making financial services more open and inclusive."
