BitGo Bank & Trust has enabled Ethereum staking through the Lido protocol for eligible U.S. clients, extending a service it had already rolled out to customers in Europe and Asia in July 2025. Eligible users can stake ETH through their existing BitGo accounts and hold the resulting stETH within the same environment.
The move builds on BitGo’s earlier integration of Lido into its custody platform and marks a broader expansion of the offering to more clients. Kean Gilbert, head of institutional relationships at the Lido Ecosystem Foundation, said staking strategies may work in theory, but institutions need support from their custodians to put them into practice. He said BitGo Bank & Trust clients now have that access for Lido staking.
Nathan Stump, managing director and head of ecosystem sales at BitGo, said institutional clients want to put digital assets to work without adding unnecessary operational complexity. By expanding Lido staking, BitGo is adding another function directly into the BitGo setup that clients already use to manage assets.
